Alexxandra Kaye Berkley, 69, passed away on Jan. 15, 2017, at her home in Anchorage, Alaska, from natural causes. Alexx was born on Jan. 17, 1947, in Breckenridge, Texas, to Charles Allen Jones Sr. and Jonelle (Everett) Jones.
A favorite quote of Alexx is from Thomas Jefferson, "All the world is my school and humanity is my teacher." Alexx was a lifelong learner attending classes in accounting, civil engineering and art. Alexx loved reading, art, plants, travelling and visiting her family and many friends. She was a self-employed entrepreneur who could accomplish anything she set her mind to. She definitely was a Jill of all trades.
Alexx was born in Texas, but her curiosity and love of life kept her on the move traveling from state to state for many years seeking adventure. She lived in such places as Baton Rouge, La.; Portland, Ore.; Vancouver, Wash.; and finally landed in Alaska in 1994. She found peace and a place to call home in Anchorage and Palmer, Alaska. She was a respected elder and counseled to those that knew her. She came to understand that, the life of this world is but a sport and pastime and surely better is the life to come. Her favorite pastime was caring for her loving cats, Calico and Thibodeaux.
She is survived by her sister, Lonne Martinec of Houston, Texas; brother, Charles Jones of Magnolia, Texas; son, Alex Jackson of Scottsdale, Ariz.; son, Christopher Harwell of Spring, Texas; daughter, Kimberly Weidenkeller of Mesa, Ariz.; granddaughter, Paula Weidenkeller of Eugene, Ore.; grandson, Nicholas Jackson and granddaughter, Jessica Jackson both of Scottsdale, Ariz.; grandson, Derrick S. Shane of Humble, Texas; and her cat, Calico Jane Pooterbug Butterbottom Berkley of Anchorage.
Memorial donations can be mailed to Kimberly Weidenkeller, 658 Overland, Mesa, AZ 85207. Her ashes will be scattered in the Redwood Forest in Oregon with those of her beloved cats.
