Alice C. Farring was born on Oct. 16, 1932, in Detroit, Mich. She was the oldest in a family of five children.
At the age of 11, she made her choice to serve God. In 1957, she offered her life to become a minister, preaching the Gospel. She labored in Oregon for six years, then Hawaii and Wisconsin for a short while before going to Brazil, where she preached the Gospel for 44 years.
In 2011, due to deteriorating health, she moved to Alaska to live with her brother and sister-in-law, David and Elrena Farring. She was placed in later years in an assisted living home nearby, where she passed on, assisted by hospice services.
She is survived by brothers, Robert (Ruth) Farring of Fargo, N.D., Sam (Jan) Farring of Powell Butte, Ore., and David (Elrena) Farring of Anchorage, Alaska; and her only sister, Rose Farring of Korea. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, grandnieces and grandnephews and even great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews, as well as dear friends in the countries where she worked.
A visitation will be held at 2 p.m., on Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, at the Spenard Community Recreation Center, 2020 West 48th Avenue in Anchorage, with a service to follow at 3 p.m.
