Barry Christopher Simpson passed away with his wife, Wendy, at his side on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2017, at the age of 72.
Barry is predeceased by his parents, Earl and Helen (Barry) Simpson; and his brother, Thomas Paul Simpson.
Barry is survived by his loving wife, Wendy of 41 years, his daughter, Danika of Anchorage, Alaska; sons, Sean and Major of Wasilla, Alaska; four grandchildren, Ashlea, Kaleb, Colten and Denali; and one great-grandson, Harrison.
Barry is lovingly remembered by his sister, Hazel Allen of Spokane, Wash.; brother, Ken of Anchorage; brother, Frank of Wasilla; sister, Jean Krupa of Wasilla; sister, Kathy Stevens of Anchorage; and brother, John of Anchorage; and loving nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Barry was born in Anchorage in 1945. He graduated from East High School in 1965, and went on to serve an apprenticeship at the Alaska Railroad as a Diesel Electric Mechanic. He worked for Arco from the inception of the trans-Alaska pipeline through 1987. He also had a 20-year career with the Alaska National Guard.
Barry and Wendy enjoyed living on his sailboat, Private World, and cruising with their family around the Pacific. He retired to the home he built at Lake Louise, Alaska, where he remained active in trail grooming with the snow machine club.
The funeral service will be held St. Michael's Catholic Church, 432 East Fireweed Avenue, Palmer, AK 99645, on Nov. 9, 2017, at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at the Pioneer Cemetery in Palmer, Alaska. The wake will take place at the Palmer Elk's Lodge with a Celebration of Life potluck, where he was a lifetime member.
