Long time Alaska resident Carmen V. Roth, 93, died on July 21, 2017, in Anchorage, Alaska, with her daughter by her side and holding her hand. She passed quickly and at peace with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Carmen was born on Jan. 31, 1924, in Berne, Ind., to David and Olga Lehman. She came to Alaska, in 1951, with her husband, Maver, to work in a children's home in Kasilof, Alaska. Shortly thereafter they began working with Arctic Missions Inc., Maver as a general contractor and Carmen as the bookkeeper. They served with Arctic Missions for 18 years with the building needs of missionaries all over the state of Alaska.
Carmen has been a role model of a godly women in every respect and has served her Lord and others faithfully all her days. She was a mentor, friend, nurturing mother and grandmother, and took great joy in her family. Carmen attended Changepoint Church for many years. She enjoyed reading and various types of handwork. She leaves behind extensive research on family geneology and history.
She leaves her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Paul Biederman of Anchorage; three grandsons and daughters-in-law, Kyle and Susanna Biederman of Anchorage, Kevin and Colleen Biederman of Seattle, Wash., and Kurt and Michelle Biederman of Seattle; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Sherman and Cosette Roth of Belligham, Wash.; and eight great-grandchildren. Maver preceded her in death in 1995.
There will not be any public service but only a private family burial service, as requested by Carmen. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Victory Bible Camp, at www.vbcalaska.org/roth.
