Dan worked in construction as well as commercial fishing when he was younger. More than anything else, Dan loved his family and friends. He enjoyed camping, fishing, going to the cabin, and traveling. He loved sports and will be missed at the games "Go Aces", where you could find him as a season ticket holder. He had a great sense of humor and always a smile to brighten your day. His talent, as one neighbor girl said, was that "He was a kid. He never grew up" He loved making children laugh by talking like Donald Duck and always watched out for their safety. Dan loved to give, but it was his children who gave the sweetest gift of all in deciding to donate their father's organs to Life Alaska Donor Services.
Dan is survived by his beloved children, Madison and Jake of Anchorage, and his life partner, Colleen Gee, of Anchorage. Additionally he leaves behind his mother, Gertrude O'Neill Odom of Sevierville, TN and his sibling, Cheryl Gleason Potts of Topanga, CA; Lynn O'Neill Ellison of Anchorage; John O'Neill of Parsippany, NJ and Dana O'Neill of Las Vegas, NV. He will also be deeply missed by his extended family, Ketti O'Neill of Middleton, ID; Dale and Marie Rice; Craig Stratman; Alex Rice of Kodiak; Scott Rice of Sacramento, CA; Tanya Willis of San Antonio, TX and Kent Rice of St Louis, MO. He deeply loved his many nieces and nephews. Dan was a friend to all he met. Dan is preceded in death by his father, Daniel O'Neill; his brother, David O'Neill and his son's mother, Whitney Damm-O'Neill.
