Delmer Dale Zahn, 48, died Sept. 24, 2009, of a heart attack at his Anchorage home.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at China King, 711 E. Fireweed Lane. A funeral was held in Vancouver, Wash., at St. John's Catholic Church.

Dale was born Sept. 15, 1961, in Millbanks, S.D., and graduated in 1980 from Eugene High School in Vancouver, Wash.

He worked in construction and commercial fishing in Alaska.

He graduated from the University of Alaska with a degree in civil engineering and worked for Anderson's Engineering in Anchorage.

Dale loved the outdoors, including hiking, fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his parents, Chuck and Gloria Zahn; his brother, Patrick Zahn; his sisters, Shawna Mabry, Daniel Johnson and Barbara Wood; and numerous nieces and nephews.
