Delores Ann Hamann passed away peacefully with family beside her on Oct. 28, 2017, at the age of 75, in Eugene, Ore.
Delores was born on Aug. 22, 1942, in Baldwin, Colo., to Jim and Delores Whitt. Her family came to Palmer, Alaska, in 1955, and she graduated from Palmer High School in 1960. She married Dennis L. Hamann shortly after, in 1960, and over the next five years welcomed four children into the family.
Delores' life was devoted to her family and friends. She was a very caring and loving individual who always put other people first. She loved to crochet, play pinochle and was well known for her bread and cinnamon rolls. She had many lifelong friends who she cherished and was loved by everyone that knew her.
Delores is survived by her sons, Scott Hamann of Kenai, Alaska, and Dennis W. Hamann of Wasilla, Alaska; daughter, Janet Matson of Eugene, Ore.; brother, Jim Whitt of Palmer; sisters, Carol Foster of Honey Grove, Texas, and Toni Stocks of Carson City, Nev.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Delores Whitt of Palmer; husband of 51 years, Dennis L. Hamann; son, Tracy Hamann; brothers, Dick Whitt and Rex Whitt both of Palmer; and sisters, Terry Cooper of Ninilchik, Alaska, and Leslie Jordan of Anchorage, Alaska.
A Celebration of Delores' Life is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Nov. 11, 2017, at Family Christian Center, 203 West Dogwood Avenue in Palmer, followed with a Memorial gathering from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. at the Palmer Moose Lodge, 1136 South Cobb Street.
