Donald R. Baker died on July 16, 2017, unexpectedly, near his home in south Anchorage, Alaska.
Baker was born on Feb. 9, 1934, in Toronto, Canada, and moved to Anchorage in the early 1960s, transferring here to manage a Beneficial Finance Co. office. When Beneficial quit its Alaska operations, Baker joined First National Bank. He subsequently worked with Home Depot prior to his retirement.
Baker became a naturalized citizen during the 1976 Bi-Centennial Celebration.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann, whom he married almost 50 years ago. Also surviving is a daughter, Heather of Anchorage; and a number of relatives in Canada including a brother, Paul.
No services are planned at this time. Cremation arrangements were with the Cremation Society of Alaska.
