Donald Wright Dwiggins was born November 20, 1946 in Cambridge, Massachusetts and lived in California from an early age until 1973, when he moved to Alaska. He was a really cool guy. Don attended Shasta Union High School in Redding, California, graduating in 1964, and Shasta College for two years before completing a bachelor of Architecture at the University of California, Berkeley in 1971. He worked in the field of architecture from 1967, starting his own firm in 1974 and operating it until cancer rapidly got the best of him. Architecture was both his career and his hobby, both a curse and a blessing.

He married Judith Combe in 1975 and loved her until he died. He leaves his wife, Judy Dwiggins, of Anchorage; son and daughter-in-law Brian and Jessie Dwiggins of Cumberland, Rhode Island; daughter and son-in-law Stacy and Joseph Berg, and grandchildren Skylar, Baylor, and Ryland Berg of Anchorage; mother, Barbara Dwiggins of Highland, California; and sister and brother-in-law Diana and Morris Allen of Stockton, California.
Don was a charter member and past president of Anchorage South Rotary. He also served on the BOMA Anchorage board of directors for many years and was active in a number of community organizations.
He loved snowmachining, 4-wheeling, traveling, and especially spending time with his family and friends at his home in Anchorage or at his cabin at Nancy Lake.
He does not want his buddies to endanger themselves to scatter his ashes on some Alaskan mountain top with their snow machines, but would rather have his ashes at rest in the mausoleum in the Anchorage Cemetery with a stone as a recognition he existed.
