Donna Jeanne Chiacchia passed peacefully on Oct. 22, 2014, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, Wash., surrounded by family and friends. Donna was born in Anchorage, Alaska, to Don and Marian Knudsen on June 1, 1946. She was raised in Anchorage and graduated from West High School. Donna raised three wonderful children in Anchorage and Spokane. She always loved to meet new friends and help others. A lifelong volunteer, Donna worked with her church, women's groups, The Anchorage Concert Association, Providence Hospital Auxiliary and SCOPE. Donna was an amateur photographer, gardener, lifelong music and animal lover. Donna wished to be cremated and have her ashes placed with her parents and spread on Flattop Mountain in Alaska. Donna was preceded in death by her mother, Marian Hitchcock; and fathers, Don Knudsen and Vernon Hitchcock. Donna is survived by her loving companion, Don Holmes; brother, Chris Knudsen of Big Lake, Alaska; son, Grant and wife Christine Chiacchia of Anchorage; daughter, Gina and husband Joe Schlomer of Odessa, Wash.; son, Nick and wife Somi Chiacchia of Spokane Valley, Wash.; grandchildren, Casey, Hailey, Jordan, Ilan, Theron, Gabe, Cooper, Tori, Abby and Ella; niece and nephew, Mikey McGhee and Cameron Knudsen; and many beloved cousins; family members; and friends. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Nov. 14, 2014, at Opportunity Presbyterian Church, located at 202 N Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA 99206.
