Doris was born to Dale and Alice Hillmer of Eagle River, Alaska, and later moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where she lived out her childhood and adult years, and where she attended Fairview Elementary School, Romig Middle School and then West High School, and later went on to attend and complete CST.
Doris had always had a passion for beauty and serving others, which is why she attended John Anthony's School of Hair Design. Doris also worked in food service as an upbeat waitress who always knew what you needed.
Doris is preceded in death by her father, Dale A. Hillmer, "Pops"; mother, Alice Stevenson; brother, Dale A. Hillmer, "Buckshot"; and her son, Christopher A. Hillmer.
Doris leaves behind her daughters, Amber R. and Shannon L. Morrison of Anchorage; son-in-law, Dominic S. Delaney; and her seven grandchildren, whom she loved with her whole heart. Doris is also survived by her mom/stepmother, Betty Harthoorn; brothers, Michael and Clint Hillmer; brother-in-law, Kirk Fletcher; sisters, Theresa (Terry) Fletcher, Kim Williams and Melissa Hillmer; and nephews and nieces.
Doris was known for taking in and adopting her children's friends, and became Auntie/Momma D to all, and she prided herself in being that. Although her life was cut short, Doris lived it undoubtedly free and her way.
