E. Cleon Glaze left his earthly home on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, and is now with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His family wants to share the following sentiments written by one of his daughters several days before his death:
"No, my father is not well in spite of many ongoing prayers.
"But does that mean I don't believe in prayer? No way!
"I believe whole-heartedly in prayer.
"No, we may not always get the response we want, but how many times do we get a 'yes' but not acknowledge it as an answer?
"I'm sure during my dad's childhood, my grandparents prayed continually for him, and he survived.
"When he went to the Korean War, I'm sure his newlywed (my mom) prayed continually for him, and he survived.
"He was an FBI agent, so we all continually prayed for his safety, and he survived.
"He was diagnosed with a medical condition and was told he had 10 years, and it's been 20.
"We were told last fall that they didn't expect him to live till Christmas, and it's now almost March.
"Yes, I believe in prayer. And yes, I know one day the answer for him to live will be 'no,' because it will be time for him to go live with his Heavenly Father and to see his own parents and grandparents once again.
"I'll sadly accept the 'no,' but that won't deter my belief in prayer. It will only enhance the power and timing of God's will. We are all in His hands."
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Cleon is survived by his wife, Joyce; four children and their spouses, Sandra and Michael Lettis, Steve and Melody Glaze, Pam and Woody Johnson, and Debbie and David Lockard; eight grandchildren; four siblings; and many nieces and nephews. Plus his yet-to-be-born first great-grandchild.
There will be a private family memorial service this week. In lieu of flowers, you may send a contribution to the FBI scholarship fund (www.socxfbi.org/page/Scholarships), something Cleon passionately supported.
