Edward M. Hovanec, age 80, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, in Sebring, Fla.
He was born on July 2, 1937, to the late Andrew and Helen (Piertch) Hovanec in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. Edward served 22 years in the U.S. Air Force. He and his wife Darlene raised their family in Anchorage, Alaska. They moved to Sebring in 2001.
In Alaska, Ed was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. He was an umpire in the Anchorage Softball Association, and loved fishing with his family on the Kenai Peninsula.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene Hovanec of Sebring, Fla.; children, Michael Hovanec (Carol) of Anchorage, Pamela Hovanec of Avon Park, Fla., Patrick Hovanec of Anchorage, Colleen Alexander of Anchorage and Derek Hovanec (Juanita) of Texas; brother, Andrew Hovanec of Tennessee; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
