Edward McDonough, 73, was born April 24, 1944, in South Boston, Mass. He died on Dec. 24, 2017, at Providence Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska.
Edward came to Alaska on a visit with his sister. He came to Hope Community Resources 16 years ago and lived with JoAnne, Kathy and Chuck, Richard and Kelley at their house on Furrow Creek Road.
Edward loved to talk about his Irish roots and South Boston. Edward had a love for airplanes, trains and motorcycles. He was a devoted Catholic and found great comfort and peace at the Monastery of the Blessed Sacrament. He was known for his one-liners and great sense of humor. He attended weekly events at the Anchorage Senior Center. Edward had the bluest eyes and a smile that could melt your heart. Edward will be greatly missed and was loved deeply by his family and friends.
Edward is survived by his siblings: Paul and Beth McDonough; Eileen and Jim Healy; and Dolly and Ann Mulken. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Bridgete McDonough of Galway, Ireland; and his siblings, Patrick, Martin Jr., Jean, Kathryn, Kendra and John.
