Floyd Sherm Polmateer, age 80, passed away in his Anchorage, Alaska, home on Sept. 24, 2017. He leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Judy; daughters, Jean, Jodi and Dawna; and grandchildren, Dijone, A'Ladean, Briana, Anna, Daryen, Sydney, Liam and Paige. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Cora Polmateer; sister, Leota; brother, Milton; daughter, Lea; and son, Kip.
Floyd's lifelong adventurous "can do" spirit, his witty and mischievous sense of humor, his ability to fix anything, do anything, go anywhere - be it by land or air - and just plain challenge the status quo will not be forgotten.
For most of his life he was the fun loving guy in the crowd, a jokester at heart, but two years ago Floyd had a serious car accident, breaking both his neck and his pelvis. Since that time he suffered significant health issues, at times barely able to walk.
It is with knowledge that he no longer suffers from his injuries, and in joyous remembrance of many memories, we celebrate his life on Oct. 14, 2017, at 2 p.m., at Gallos Restaurant, 8311 Arctic Blvd in Anchorage.
The family welcomes all friends to join us. Call 425-533-3421 or 907-227-9911 for information, or, do like Floyd would do - just show up!
