The Guest Book is expired.

Francis Lloyd Hester Jr. was born on Oct. 1, 1937, in Silverton, Ore., and left this world on Oct. 22, 2017.
Both parents, one brother and a daughter preceded him in death. His wife, Helen, lives in Alaska. He has one surviving brother, Donald from Utah; three sisters, Angela, Juanita and Cheri from Colorado and one sister, Yova from Alaska; seven children, Clayton form Texas, Kayla from Alaska, Esther from Florida, Yolanda, Belinda and Robert from Alaska, and Paul from Washington; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He grew up in Texas, playing football and baseball in high school. Francis spent some time in the Texas National Guard and lived for a time with wife and children in Texas. Then, in 1971, he made his home Alaska.
Francis drove trucks from Barrow, Alaska, to Florida and all over the United States. He drove the Alcan when it was dirt, so there were many stories he could tell you. He was a teamster. He also worked construction building homes. Snowmachining or running the river was a favorite thing for him to do; his radio handler name was "The River Rat." He taught the kids and grandchildren to hunt and fish.
Close friends and family called him Papa. He will be missed by all.
A service will be held at the Sunset Baptist Church in Anchorage, Alaska, on Nov. 9, 2017, at 2 p.m.
