Born September 12th, 1931, George Chrimat passed away on Thursday, April 17th at the age of 82 in his Anchorage home with his family by his side.

George dedicated his life to food and owned several restaurants around the globe during his life. His passion for great gourmet food and wine ultimately was reflected throughout his 30 years of success as a master chef and owner of Alaska's best Italian restaurant, Villa Nova. His restaurant was his life; he owned and operated Villa Nova up until a few weeks prior to his passing.

George welcomed everyone into his heart and life with open arms and always put others' priorities before his own. People that walked into Villa Nova were treated as part of his family; in fact, George greeted almost every table he could during his breaks from the kitchen with a gratitude and a genuine smile.

He was a giver and gave his heart and soul to everyone he knew. George was happy if everyone around him was happy; which was always the case because of his humor and generosity. His happiness was contagious everywhere he went.

He is survived by his wife, Amanda Saxton; daughter, Elena Chrimat; and countless friends who he considered family.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Patrick's Parish, 2111 Muldoon Road, Anchorage, Alaska at 11 a.m., Monday, April 21st, 2014 with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church Building Fund, St. Patrick's Parish, or March of Dimes.
