Geraldine M. Walter (1933 - 2018)

The Guest Book is expired.

Long time Alaskan Geraldine M. Walter passed away peacefully in her home in Anchorage, Alaska, to be with the Lord on Jan. 21, 2018. She was 84 years old.
Geraldine was born on June 6, 1933, in Kankakee, Ill., to Hugh Lewis and Minnie Bums. Geraldine moved to Anchorage in 1965 with her husband James and their three children: Jimmy, Lorie Marie and Terry Lynn. The young family moved to Alaska in hopes of finding gold, although late for the Famous Alaskan Gold Rush. The family fell in love with the natural beauty of Alaska and decided to build their lives and raise their children here. Throughout the years Geraldine had lifelong friends in Alaska, all the while keeping in touch with old friends and family out of state.
Geraldine was a great mother to her children, a very supportive grandmother and great-grandmother, and a wonderful lifelong friend. She never forgot anyone and made sure to keep in touch. She was fun to be around and always lent an ear to those who needed it, and gave advice when needed. She had a way with people: no matter what was going on, she always knew what to say and how to say it in a way that was not only comforting but, gave hope. She was a wonderful person and will be greatly missed.
Geraldine is survived by her three children, Jimmy, Lorie Marie and Terry Lynn; her five grandchildren, Athena, Lohandra, Michael, Mark and John; and her two great-grandchildren, Marco and Sean.
Geraldine blessed us all with love, wisdom and humor, even during her most challenging times, and we will miss her dearly. May she rest in peace.
