Gladys Colon, 71, passed away on Oct. 31, 2017, at Providence Hospital.
She was born on Nov. 8, 1945, in Aibonito, Puerto Rico, where she was raised and attended school. She moved to the Bronx, New York, in December 1967, and then to Anchorage, Alaska, in September 1985.
Gladys was a homemaker and a member of Changepoint Church. She enjoyed worshipping Jesus at church and at home, having birds and fish for pets and listening to gospel music.
Gladys is survived by her sons, Higinio (Caroline) Colon Jr. and Angel L. Colon; daughter, Elizabeth Colon; brothers, Manuel, Ruben and Benjamin Suarez; sisters, Sonia and Elizabeth Suarez; uncles, Lorenzo and Justino Suarez; and her aunt, Felicita Rodriquez.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Erasmo and Marcela Suarez; her son, Johnny Colon; brothers, Efrain and Daniel Suarez; and sisters, Maria Dolores and Elba and Rosa Maria Suarez.
Gladys was a strong God-fearing woman who never gave up on life and loved the Lord with all her heart, worshiping Him until her last moments on earth. Her spitfire personality and unconditional love for everyone she knew will be missed more that words can express.
