Gloria Comini Crandall Wisecarver, 85, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2015, at Providence Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, at the Kenai Elks Club at 4 p.m. Gloria was born on July 7, 1930, in Portland, Ore. She received her nursing degree from Oregon State University and in 1966, she moved to Alaska, along with her three kids, in search of adventure. In her many years of nursing she worked for Dr. Struthers, Dr. Peter Hansen, Collier Chemical Company and Central Peninsula General Hospital. She finished her career with Dr. Alex Russell. Gloria was married to Frank Wisecarver in 1972, and they shared many adventures until his death in 1984. Gloria was a firm believer in community service and served on many committees and boards during her lifetime, including The United Way, Fish and Game, CPGH Hospital and the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank. She so believed in the Food Bank's mission that she continued to volunteer in any capacity long after she left the board. Gloria enjoyed the company of her many friends and could be often found playing bridge, bunco or having lunch dates. Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Marion Comini of Portland, Ore.; and her husband, Frank Wisecarver. Gloria is survived by her two sons, Clyde Crandall (and wife Annie) of Kenai, Alaska, and Guy Crandall of Titusville, Fla.; and daughter, Corbi Rhoades of Soldotna, Alaska; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank, because Gloria truly believed that no one deserves to go hungry, 33955 Community College Drive, Soldotna, AK 99669.
