Gregorio ""Greg"" Yuson Saludares, age 62, left this earthly world to see the eternal sunrise in the Kingdom of Heaven in early morning hours of Sept., 14, 2017, while in care at Alaska Regional Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska.
Greg was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on Feb. 22, 1955. He became an Alaska resident in 1989, during his military service and retirement from the United States Air Force. Greg continued his career as a civilian in telecommunications field.
Greg was a cherished, kind, happy and generous-spirited personality who brought joy to all who knew him. Greg was a loving role model who enjoyed a wide array of sports ranging from football, volleyball, softball, bowling, golf, paintball, pool, darts and archery. Greg enjoyed shooting and also was an avid fisherman. He was a well-known enthusiast in the vape community, building mods being one of his many detailed hobbies.
Greg had a great passion for Hawaiian roots music and was often known to grace his friends and family with his musical talents on guitar and ukulele. Greg's last wishes were for his ashes to return home to the beaches of Hawaii. It is the family's goal to carry out his desire to completion. The family is requesting monetary donations, in lieu of flowers, in order to honor Greg. Please donate through online by entering in the address bar. Greg was above all, an endearing man, beloved husband and father, doting grandfather and genuine friend to all.
Greg was preceded in death by his father, Avelino; and his mother, Genoveva. He is survived by his son, Corey and daughter-in-law, Jana Hartung; daughter, Laurie and son-in-law, Kris Scrivens; daughter, Kelsie; and son, Rio; and his grandchildren, Dominick, Olin, Cyrus and Nolani; his brothers, Robert Saludares and Junior Avelino, and his wife, Lovey; his sisters Fley Rojas, Juanita Cox and her husband Ken, Novena and her husband George HewLen; wife, Patricia "Patty"; and stepchildren, Mary and Johnny; and stepgrandchildren, Ricky, Crystal, Justine, Nicole, Alex and Donivan; and stepgreat-grand baby, River Marie.
The Celebration of Life Service Honoring Greg's ashes will be held on Sept. 29, 2017, at 6 p.m. at Heart of the City Church, 411 West 4th Avenue in Anchorage. Celebration services are open to all who knew and loved him and friends supporting family.
