Gregory Joseph "Jolly" Barras, 53, of Anchorage, Alaska, died on Oct. 28, 2017. He was born on March 30, 1964, in Tripoli, Africa, the son of Paul and Rita Barras. He ran Tranquil Assisted Living Home for the last six years, but was involved in foster care for over 20 years. Gregory served in the military. Chef Jolly, taught by mommie, loved cooking delicious food, and watching his sports.
Gregory is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Julian and Rhea Barras of St. Martinsville, La.; maternal grandparents, Fritz and Elizabeth Ledet of Eunice, La.; his brother, Paul Jr.; and his adoptive brother, Jamal.
Gregory is survived by his parents, Paul Barras of Lafayette, La., and Rita M. Barras of Anchorage; his brother, Kevin Barras and his sister, Ursula Barras, both of Puyallup, Wash.; and his brother, F. Paul Barras of Anchorage. He leaves behind his son, Ahmad and his wife, Carrie of Yelm, Wash., and grandchildren Saliyah, Anakin and Malakai; son, Derrick of Dallas, Texas, and granddaughter Kennadie; son, Princeton of Anchorage; daughter, LeRita of Anchorage, and grandson Julian; and son, Jordan of Anchorage.
