Helen Jimmy McGeary, 72, passed away from cancer on Oct. 17, 2017, at the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. She was born Oct. 13, 1945, at a fish camp near Kwigillingok, Alaska.
Helen went to West Virginia College and had many professions such as: nursing, teaching, teacher's aide, and counseling, in her lifetime. Her hobbies included reading books, subsistence gathering, spending quality family time, playing cards, scrabble and bingo. Helen loved going to Musicale every year and loved praising the Lord and reading His word.
A public visitation was held Oct. 24, 2017, at Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E Street, Anchorage, Alaska. A funeral service followed and Helen was laid to rest at the Fort Richardson National Cemetery.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Julie McGeary; sons, John and Carl McGeary; granddaughters, Talishia; Katelyn; Jenae; and Autumn McGeary; grandsons, Taylor; Myles; Darren; Corey; Hunter McGeary; Anthony Albertson; Austin Cookroft; Micah Petluska; and Tyrelle Andrew; sisters, Elmie Gunder; JoAnn Jimmy; Emma Andrew; Martha Jimmy; Roxann Anaruk; and Hannah Jimmy; and brothers, Fred and Carl Jimmy Jr.
She is preceded in death by John McGeary; Darren McGeary; Carl Jimmy; Julia Jimmy; and Lillian Jimmy. Arrangements are with Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
