James Edward Shutt entered peaceful rest on Jan. 29, 2018, in Anchorage, Alaska, with his wife and three children at his side.
Born on July 9, 1947, in Mansfield, Ohio, to Kenneth and Hazelle (Harp) Shutt, Jim was the younger of their two sons. Jim grew up in Mansfield and attended Mansfield High School, then went on to join the United States Air Force shortly after, enlisting in May 1966. While stationed at Clark Air Force Base, Philippines, in 1968, he met and married Manolita Cunanan and started the beginning of their 47 years together. They returned to the United States and raised three children: Jeffrey, Edwin and Michelle. Jim went on to serve 20 years in the USAF, retiring in 1986 and moving his family to Anchorage, where he loved to fish.
Jim loved all things Ohio, especially his Cleveland Indians, Ohio State Buckeyes and, yes, even the Cleveland Browns. Always with a wise crack ready, conversations with Jim were never dull. He loved to laugh, joke and "horse around," especially with his two sons, even through his very last days. Other passions of Jim's were bowling, fishing, listening to oldies, watching game shows, playing the drums and being with his wife.
He is preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Shutt; mother, Hazelle (Harp); brother, Jerry Shutt; aunt, Madelene (Harp) Eyerly; uncle, Harry Eyerly; and cousin, Peggy (Eyerly) Wallis.
He is survived by his wife, Lita Shutt; sons, Jeff (Charlene) and Edwin Shutt; daughter, Michelle Shutt; granddaughters, Jaelyn, Jordyn and Jhetta Shutt; grandson, Jesse; and cousins, Donald (Julie) Eyerly, Donna (Larry) Davis and Ralph Wallis.
