Pastor James R. McFarlin, 79, passed away on Dec. 19, 2017, in Lynnwood, Wash., with his loving wife, Jenny, by his side after a long battle with cancer.
Jim was born on June 9, 1938, in Buhl, Idaho, where he spent his early years before moving to Alaska in 1965. He graduated from Northwest Assembly of God Bible College. He and Jenny then went on to start The Church of the Living God and Christian Academy in Anchorage, Alaska.
Jim and Jenny moved to Wasilla, Alaska, in 1998, where they open and ran an adult family home and Meadow Lakes Christian Center. He enjoyed raising livestock, gardening, watching movies, working with his hands, fishing and hunting. He especially loved spending time with his family, and spreading the word of God.
He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Jenny; his children, Kathy, Cindy, Jimmy, Cona, Ninotchka, Genieveve, Ricky, Latoya and Desiree; and he was blessed with over 30 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a loving man, and will be greatly missed.
Service will be officiated by Mike J. Purcell at 11 a.m., on Jan. 5, 2018, at Valley Funeral Home, 151 East Herning Avenue Wasilla, AK 99654, with Reception details to be determined.
