Former long time Alaska resident Jean Louise Updegraff Hecker is in the presence of her Saviour Jesus Christ. She passed from this world on Nov. 11, 2016, in Lewisburg, Pa., because of long term cardiac issues. Born in Williamsport, Pa., during 1932, she had many challenging years and many marvelous years. She lived in Anchorage, Alaska, from 1983 until 2003, when she returned to Pennsylvania to be near her siblings. She worked many jobs over the years to support her five children, to include working at the Chicago Police Department and the Anchorage Police Department. At APD she was a data entry clerk from 1983 until her retirement in 1994. Ma Hecker, DSN 675, was loved by APD sworn and unsworn employees alike. She loved Alaska and was grateful to God that she lived there and experienced the Great Land. When she was fishing, gold panning, flying or driving around the state she was always happy and content. Ma always has and always will love all of her babies with unconditional love. Ma wanted to thank everyone she ever knew in Alaska and tell you she loves you. She hopes to see you all again with Christ, but not too soon. There will not be any memorial or remembrance service, per her instructions. In lieu of any financial gifts or flowers, just give your thanks to God The Creator for knowing one of His beautiful and loving daughters.
