Jeffrey Kent Fisher passed away at his home in Anchorage, Alaska, on Feb. 14, 2018, at the age of 57. Jeff was born in Huntingdon, Pa., and attended Mt. Union High School.
Jeff proudly served in the United States Navy for 20 years. During his service, Jeff served as a Shipboard Chemical, Biological and Radiological Defense Specialist, and as an Instructor at Treasure Island Naval Station. Jeff was highly decorated during his Naval service and received many commendations, including: two Navy Achievement medals; five Good Conduct Medals; eight Sea Service Deployment Ribbons; a Southwest Asia Service Medal with two Bronze Stars; a National Defense Service Medal; two Armed Forces Expedition Medals; Kuwait Liberation Medal; Humanitarian Service Medal, and others citations. Prior to his retirement, Jeff was a Petty Officer, First Class.
In 2001, Jeff fulfilled his dream and came north to Alaska. He worked at Action Security for 15 years, as a Hollow Metal Specialist and Safety Officer.
In 2010, Jeff met his future wife, Ann. They traveled around Alaska, camping, watching wildlife and riding bicycles. Jeff was an avid photographer. He also enjoyed baking and decorating cakes from scratch for family gatherings and birthdays.
Jeff and Ann married in 2012. Their favorite activity was spending time with their grandsons, Jason and John. Jeff was a devoted and beloved grandfather, always patient and kind with the children.
Jeff was a loyal, compassionate and good man with a generous spirit. He will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Ann; stepchildren, Raymond Bowman (Rebecca Stephan), Barbara Brown, Elaine Bartee (Robbie) and Carmela Warfield (Jason); grandsons, Jason and John; other beloved grandchildren in Virginia, North Carolina and Texas; many nieces and nephews, including Stacy Cross (Joe) of McVeytown, Pa., and Shane Brant of Erie, Pa.; cousin and lifelong friend, Vernon Gordon of Bainbridge, Pa.; many other cousins; and so many friends. Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Fisher; mother, Mary Himes; brother, Jay Fisher; and sisters, Debbie Fleming and Colleen Fisher.
A service will be held at Legacy Funeral Homes Kehl's Chapel, 11621 Old Seward Highway in Anchorage, on Feb. 26, 2018. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m., with service at noon, followed by Military Funeral Honors and interment at Fort Richardson National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Special Olympics Alaska at special olympicsalaska.org in Jeff's memory.
