Jesse Ackmann Obituary

Jesse Luke Ackmann, 38, passed away on Nov. 9, 2017, in Dallas, Texas, peacefully and in his sleep, his dog, Julia, on his lap. He was born to Ruby Sarah Bogenrife (Ackmann, later Becker) and Larry Earl Ackmann on July 25, 1979, in Anchorage, Alaska.
He started his first job, at age 3, with his father, gold mining at Hatcher Pass and in Fairbanks, Alaska. Later, he practiced masonry and would become a skilled auto mechanic in Anchorage; Seattle, Wash.; and Dallas, Texas.
A dedicated and loving father, he cared most about his children's well-being and happiness. His heart was warm and nurturing toward the broken parts of people. Having been well acquainted with sorrow, he would tend to and treat them with mercy. Jesse was exceedingly generous and respectfully discrete with giving. It was not uncommon for him to, without reservation, give the last of what he had - even to a stranger. He would place himself in harm's way to protect others, even when the damage was reliably severe, and the fear he must have faced in doing so was profound. His was courage born of love.
From his mom, Ruby: "Jesse is with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. God never failed him. There goes my heart, but our family looks forward to joining him. Jesse braved hardships without allowing his love and heart to diminish. He was intelligent, discerning, kind, an over comer, and ferocious against injustice."
He is survived by his children: Jesse, Jonathan, Jayla, Anthonee and Silas. He is survived by his mom, Ruby Becker; his brother, Daniel Becker; his partner, Danielle Berkey; his papa, Douglas Becker; and beloved family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, at 1 p.m., at Bethel Chapel, 239 Price Street in Anchorage. In lieu of flowers, give without expectation or cynicism to someone who needs it.

God surely does move in mysterious ways. He must have needed Jesse in heaven now, rather than later. You, his loving family, must now look forward to him welcoming you there when your time comes. Meanwhile, I grieve with you in the loss of your loved one.
