Joewayne M. Hallum, 80 passed away due to Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia December 18, 2013 at Providence Hospital with his wife and family at his bedside. He was born March 13, 1933 in Spring Grove, MN to James and Myrtle Hallum. He moved to Chippewa Falls, WI at an early age where he graduated from Chippewa High in 1951.

He enlisted in the USAF June 1951 and served for 4 years as an airborne radar tech. After that he joined Local 231 Sioux City, IA International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He moved to Anchorage in 1973 where he joined LU 1547 IBEW. He worked as a journeyman wireman while in Sioux City and throughout a great portion of Alaska retiring in 1994.
He was preceded in death July 7, 2000 by his wife of 29 years, Rose Marie F Hallum and remarried May 1, 2004 to Ingeborg Kircher. He is survived by children, Carla Hallum of Nebraska, Anita Lamere (Fred) of Iowa, James Hallum of Nebraska, Ramona Lopez (Manuel) of New Mexico, Matthew Hallum of Iowa and Timothy Hallum of Nebraska. Step Children Craig Cigard (Jane) of Kansas, Cheryl Reiff (Tom) of Iowa, Charles Cigard (Kendra) of Missouri, Charlene Chanoto (Soup) of Alaska, Irma Ellis of Florida, Patricia Woods (Warren), Wolfgang Kircher (Karen) of Colorado and Richard Kircher of Alaska; as well as 18 grandchildren; and 19 step grandchildren.
Joe loved the great outdoors, fishing and hunting, spending time at their cabin on the Kenai and flying his private airplane when he was able to.
Viewing will be held December 27 at 12:00 p.m. at Witzleben Chapel 1707 S. Bragaw St. Anchorage, AK with burial to take place at 2:30 p.m. at Fort Richardson National Cemetery. There will be an additional service officiated by Pastor Dan Bollerud at 4:30 p.m. at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church 1612 Ocean View Dr. Anchorage, AK with a gathering with family and friends to follow.
