John Arthur Brooks was born on a farm in Columbus, Ohio. He married his wife, Melinda, in 1985, shortly after his second daughter was born. John was a military veteran and an active member of the IBEW. He enjoyed camping, fishing and calling his wife a cheater at board games. John held several jobs as an electrical mechanic, flying all over the state he loved and restoring power and fixing generators all over Alaska. John was a man who believed in hard work and sacrifice for his family. He passed at 6 a.m. on Jan. 17, 2015. He is survived by his widow, Melinda Brooks; and his two daughters, Angleica and Violet; along with his three beautiful grandchildren, Skye, Jayden and Jasmine. There will be a Celebration of Life ceremony at his daughter's home in Wasilla, Alaska, on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015. Please call the Alaska Cremation Society for further details. "We were all lucky to have known John Brooks."
