Anchor Point, Alaska, resident Mr. John Edward Capen, 53, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 27, 2016, at his home in Anchor Point, Alaska. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at the Holy Family Cathedral, 800 West 5th Avenue in Anchorage. Father Anthony Patalano OP will officiate. A reception will follow after the services. John was born on Dec. 28, 1962, to Robert Henry and Anne (Kopko) Capen in Bellows Falls, Vt., where he was raised and graduated from Bellows Falls Union High School. He had moved to Alaska in 1986, living in Anchorage, where he had worked for Schlumberger Oilfield Services in Prudhoe Bay, from which he retired in December 2015. John enjoyed hunting and fishing. John was preceded in death by his father, Robert H. Capen; and brother, Michael J. Capen. He is survived by his mother, Anne Capen of Bellows Falls, Vt.; sisters, Elizabeth Morehead of Winter Park, Fla., Mary Ann Howe of Casselberry, Fla., Judith Capen of Bennington, Vt., and Ellie Barnett of Orlando, Fla.; brothers, Robert Capen of Lincolnton, N.C., and Frank Capen of Bellows Falls, Vt.; three nieces; and four nephews.
