Longtime Anchorage resident, Mr. John Chirigotis, 54, passed away from Pulmonary Fibrosis Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at his home in Anchorage.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 12, 2013 at the Anchorage Funeral Home, 1800 Dare Ave. in Anchorage, Alaska. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Father William Vacilli will officiate. Military Honors will be performed 3:00 pm., Thursday at the Fort Richardson National Cemetery where he will be laid to rest. Those attending will need to meet at the JBER, Arctic Valley entrance at 2:30 p.m. Pallbearers will include, PJ, Phillip, Steve, Chris, Nick and Mitch.

John was born August 17, 1959 to Col. G. Steve and Olga (Petrakos) Chirigotis in Lowell, MA. He graduated from Pentucket Regional High School in West Newberry, MA. After graduating he joined the U.S. Air Force December 12, 1978 in New Mexico and served our nation until he was honorably discharged March 4, 1985. He moved to Anchorage in 1981 where he worked as a welder for Linder Construction, a security guard for Guardian Security and for American Pest Control from which he retired in 2009. John was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church and that was where he married his wife Joy. He was a car guy enjoying muscle cars and classics and was a drum player.

John was preceded in death by his mother; and brother, Peter Chirigotis. He is survived by his wife, Joy Chirigotis of Anchorage, AK; son, PJ Weise of Anchorage, AK; daughter, Irene Chirigotis of Anchorage, AK; father, Col. G. Steve Chirigotis of MA; sister, Helen Chirigotis of MA; brothers, Stephen Chirigotis of TX, Bill, Charlie and Fred Chirigotis all of MA.
