Born March 11, 1985 to Lynette Moreno Hinz, raised by Carlton Hinz Jr., and Johnny Joseph Josefsen Sr. in Anchorage, Alaska.
Johnny Jr., was very proud of being of the Tlinget, Aztec, Japanese, Aleut, Norwegian. Though his mother's lineage, he was Raven, Dog Salmon.
His maternal grandfather was Philip Moreno Sr., who was Eagle Thunderbird from Yakutat, Alaska. His maternal grandmother is Harriet Miyasato Beleal from Wrangell, Alaska.
Johnny was raised in Anchorage and received his high school diploma from the Adult Learning Center in 2005. He attended Baxter Elementary and Jr. High and Bartlett High School.
He worked as a mechanic shop helper with his dad, Carl. He also worked at the Alaska Native Heritage Center as tour guide.
Johnny's favorite hobbies were driving, fishing with his uncles, Tony and Phil, car models. His uncle George taught Johnny how to make beautiful necklaces.
Some of his favorite past times were playing pool and videos and collecting Batman comics, camping. His favorite band was Guns and Roses, and listening to"Sweet Child of Mine". He was also a former member of the NaaLuudiskQwaiiYat'xi dance native group.
Johnny's best attributes were he loved to help people, charming young man, a good listener. He always helped his dad Carl with remodeling properties. He was a sharp dresser and wore his top hat for special occasions. He loved his brother Douglas and his grand-uncle Paul Moreno, all his sisters, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins.
Johnny is survived by his loving mother Lynette Moreno Hinz, father Carl Hinz Jr.; Johnny Sr.; his maternal grandmother Harriet Miyasato Beleal, Gay Savinski and grandfather CarltonHinz Sr. Uncles, George Moreno, Phil Moreno Jr., Anthony Moreno, Chad Titell, Curtis Hinz, Ron Bogart, Ron Waldron, Simon Josefsen, and Fredrick Josefsen.
Aunts, Rachel Moreno, Paulette Moreno, Penny Hinz, Christine Bogart, and Rita Miller.
Brother, Douglas Silk; brother-in-laws Mark Beckner and Nathan Soots; Sisters, Stephanie Moreno Beckner, Mary Moreno Soots, Stargaven and Tamara Silk, Elizabeth Vanderway, Lacey Josefsen and Nicole Finch; Nieces, Kalahi Moreno, Kylie Beckner, Madison Soots, Phelonie and Rainy Silk; and Nephews, Braden and Gaven Beckner, Seth Silk and Dominic Finch.
Services will be held on March 29, 2013 at, public viewing at 11:30 a.m., funeral at 12 noon-2:00 p.m., at Kehl's Legacy Funeral Home located at 11621 Old Seward Hwy., Anchorage, AK 99515. Followed by a Celebration of Life and potluck, to be held at Cook Inlet Tribal Council located at 3600 San Jeronimo Dr. Flowers can be sent to Kehl's and donations be mailed to 6407 East 31st Ave., Anchorage, AK 99504. A graveside burial will take place later in the June.
Honorary Pallbearers will be George, Phil and Anthony Moreno, Mark Beckner, Nathan Soots, Ron Waldron.
Pallbears will be Phillip Kamechi Moreno, Nick Miyasato and Nicolas Miyasato, Dennis Waldron, Jerry Ingalls and Zaron Freeman, Walter Graham, and Dunner Edenshaw.
