June Charlotte (Reed) Chron, born Marvella June Reed, until she decided at 9 to change her name, was born on June 22, 1927, and went home on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2013, in time to spend Christmas with her husband, Virgil, 3 years after his passing.

Part of a phenomenal team with Virgil, June was special in her own right. A reluctant adventurer, in 1960; she gathered her 4 children and belongings to move from civilized Texas to the wilds of Alaska, accompanying and supporting Virgil in his commitment to start a church in Anchorage.

To help support the family, June taught special education for ARCA (now ARC of Anchorage) before the church could support her full time in her previously voluntary role of church secretary and sole publisher of the church's weekly paper, "The Muldoon Moose Call". The highlight of the paper was her own article, "Odds and Ends", written with fresh wit, humor and wisdom about the goings on in the family, sometimes to their chagrin.

A prolific and talented writer, she carried on the tradition after she and Virgil retired from the church with an ever-growing and adoring email list.

She sang beautifully. Just a month ago, the family was treated to the last instance of enjoying her ringing soprano during her last visit to church.

A prayer warrior, June was never fiercer than when interceding for her family or other loved ones. She always had a wise word, was strong, funny, smart, caring, sweet, smiling, generous and beautiful; a real southern belle character. She was loved by all who knew her, especially by her family.

In addition to her husband, Virgil, she was preceded in death by her father, James Cooper Reed, her mother, Cora Holland (Shadle) Reed, and her sister, Juanda Jim Reed. Surviving are her four daughters, June Terry (Ron) and Jamie Robinson (Mark) of Las Vegas, Jana Shedlock (Tim Evers) and Jill Reese of Anchorage, her sister, Janelle Snodgrass, sisters in law and brothers in law, George and Minnie Orm, Ivan and Della Chron, Bert Cornelius, and Jo Chron of Texas, 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Heaven's gain is our loss, but also our glory,

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to help support youth programs at the church she helped found, Muldoon Rd. Baptist Church. A special thank you to Dr. Dale Webb and everyone at Katmai Oncology Group.

Memorial Service to be held at Muldoon Rd. Baptist Church, 382 Muldoon Rd., Anchorage, AK, Saturday, 1/11/2014, 2:00 p.m. Reception after.
