Kari Anna Green, age 61, went to Our Lord in Heaven on Monday, June 4, 2018, after a pedestrian vs auto accident while in a crosswalk in downtown Spokane, Wash.
Kari was born on March 6, 1957, in Seattle, Wash., moved to Anchorage, Alaska, in 1970, and graduated from West Anchorage High School in 1975. She raised three kids, Jacob, Lucas and Ali, with her husband Joe, and did so with a sense of pride and a ridiculous sense of humor. Kari was most at home surrounded by her friends and family, with a glass of wine in her hand and a story worth telling at least 12 times. Along with Joe, Kari became a globetrotting traveler, expanding her boundaries and making new friends everywhere she went. There was never a person she couldn't make a friend or a house she couldn't make a home. Constantly in motion, Kari loved walking and she never stopped talking. A pillar of support, her family knew her to be an angel and there wasn't a person she knew who couldn't find comfort in her friendship. There was a constant smile in her eyes as she lived her best possible life. She took great pride in the family that she and her husband raised.
Her family knows that, instead of mourning her, she would want everyone to keep smiling and live their own best possible life. "Keep the Wine Flowing"
Kari is survived by her husband, Joseph; sons, Jacob and Luke; daughter, Ali Green; sister, Jill (Mike) Lyman; and brothers, Matt VanNortwick and Dan (Lora) VanNortwick.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Ann VanNortwick.
A memorial service was held at the Hennessey Funeral Home on Saturday, June 9, 2018, in Spokane. Private urn placement will be at Washington State Veterans Cemetery, Medical Lake, Wash.
