Katherine Louise Merculief, 65, passed peacefully to her death on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at 2:35 p.m., surrounded by family and friends. Katherine (maiden name Galashof) was born at King Cove, Alaska, on July 7, 1950. Her mom is Matrona Kozloff: July 12, 1918 - Sept. 28, 1987. She met her husband, Carl Merculief Sr., son of Terenty and MaryJane Merculief, and they married on Friday, Nov. 13, 1970. Katherine loved to work with, for and around people. She loved to laugh, listen and talk to people and always had a smile and hug for everyone. She also loved to go fishing and camping with her husband, children and grandchildren. She loved to dance, listen to music and watch drama shows. Her favorite sayings were: "don't be mean," "is that right?" and "I know that." Katherine is survived by her two brothers, Logan and Mac; her sister, MaryAnne; her husband, Carl; her son, Chris and Mylinda Merculief; her daughter, MaryJane Merculief and "Poor Roy"; her daughter, Samantha and Thomas Bourdukofsky; her son, Carl Merculief Jr.; her daughter, Nina and Brian Berry; and her baby, Tabitha and Michael Carter. Together Katherine and Carl have 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her mom and brothers. She was preceded in death by her mom and brothers. Funeral Service to be held at St. Innocent Cathedral on Wednesday, March 9, 2016. Visitation and Viewing to be held at 11 p.m. and funeral will be at 12 p.m. Arrangements are with Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
