Kevin L. Maze, 35, of Anchorage, died July 17, 2010, on the Kenai Peninsula after a boating accident.

A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Muldoon Community Assembly, with a reception after the service.

Kevin was born Sept. 11, 1974, in Anchorage and raised here. In 1993, he graduated from Bartlett High School, where he played football for three years. Kevin loved sports and was a huge fan of the Washington Redskins and the St. Louis Cardinals. He loved Alaska summers and would enjoy them by fishing, camping and biking. Kevin worked for Alaska Power and Telephone.

Everyone who knew Kevin knew he had a soft spot for kids. Whether they were his own nieces and nephews, or children of his friends, he would go out of his way to make them all feel special. He had a connection with every child in his life, complete with a silly nickname for each one. And they all adored him. He will always be Uncle Kev.

Kevin is survived by his mother, Connie Maze of Anchorage; and his father, Marvin Maze of Sitka. He is also survived by one brother, Kyle Maze of Anchorage; and four sisters, Kristie Hoff of Boynton Beach, Fla., Kara Cerda, of Anchorage, Katie Casey and Korey Bullard, both of Wasilla. Kevin had seven nephews and five nieces who meant the world to him.

Kevin was a devoted friend, brother, son and uncle. His untimely death is such a shock and has left so many heartbroken.

In lieu of flowers, a fund has been set up to assist the family. Contributions may be made to Alaska USA Federal Credit Union, account #1538856.
