"A heart so heavy that it chooses not to go on" - a line I read recently that describes Kimberly Jayne Sykes, our precious daughter, mother, sister, aunt. Kimberly took her own life on May 14, 2017. She always said she had a little light inside and although she's physically gone, we know her light is shining wherever she is at.
In spite of the life difficulties she faced, she was always dignified and brave and maintained her own home and remarkable sense of humor. Then after the death of her brother, our son, father, uncle, Kevin Sykes, due to a series of strokes, in February 2017, she must have not felt brave anymore and felt she could not go on.
Leaving behind in crushing sadness and with love for her forever are her mother, Augusta Reimer; her daughter, Rachel Corona (Andres); son, Jason Rourke; her sisters, Karen Sykes and Katherine Fowler; brothers, Joshua Sykes and Gregg Harvey; stepmother, Loisanne Sykes; and many other family members and friends.
Kimberly's and our family's message to everyone is this: put an end to child abuse and neglect.
