Kimberly J. Larkey-Sylvester, 56, passed away on May 20, 2017, at Providence Hospital with her family by her side. A Memorial Service will be held between 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. on May 31, 2017, at Bayshore Club House, 3131 Amber Bay Loop in Anchorage, Alaska.
Kim was born in Weirton, W.Va., on April 13, 1961, to Robert and Margaret Larkey. Kim, along with her parents and two sisters, moved to Anchorage in May 1963, when she was just 2 years old. Traveling the Alaskan Highway, the family settled in the Spenard area until 1987, when they moved across town. Kim followed her parents in 2000. Kim graduated from West Anchorage High School in 1980.
As a dedicated employee, working at the Anchorage Daily News/Alaska Dispatch News for 37 years; Kim made many friends through the years who considered her family. She was loved and appreciated by all who whose lives she touched.
Kim loved her family with every bit of her being, she enjoyed going to Kenai, Alaska, and sitting in the boat fishing with her boys and brother, Rob (she was a master at catching Reds). She enjoyed going on vacation with her mother; sister, Dawn; and brother, Jamie: they had many fun adventures, from digging for diamonds (never finding one), to swimming with the turtles in Hawaii. Family was the most important thing to her: she quilted and crocheted beautiful blankets for everyone in the family from her parents, sons, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews and her great-nephews.
Kim is survived by her husband, Jeff Sylvester; sons, Benjamin, Travis and Tyler Sylvester; her siblings, Peggy Larkey, Vicki Larkey, Robert Larkey Jr. (Tanya), Dawn Larkey-Stephens and Jamie Larkey; she is also survived by her nephews, Justin Scott, Mark Stephens (Courtney) and Alan Larkey and Robbie Larkey III; nieces, Machell Larkey, Marissa Ebbers (Michael), Robi Larkey and Olivia Larkey; and seven great-nephews, Brayden Scott, Odin Scott, Mason Stephens, Maxton Stephens, Conrad Ebbers, Phillip Ebbers and Zander Larkey. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Margaret Larkey.
Her gentle spirit and lively attitude will be missed by all.
Cards can be sent to 3541 Kachemak Circle, Anchorage, AK 99515.
