Lainie Joy Flygare (Brooks), 47, passed away on Sept. 3, 2017. She was born and raised in Juneau, Alaska. She moved from Alaska to Washington, returning in 1993.
We lost our mom and best friend to a battle of liver cancer. All who knew her will remember her as warm, loving, playful and a giving person. To all her nieces and nephews, she was a best friend to them all, crazy, fun and outgoing. Lainie was a CNA for the elderly; she was compassionate about her job. Her favorite music was '80s classics. Her favorite actor was John Travolta: she loved Urban Cowboy and Grease! She was a loving mother to Leann, Ashley, Timothy and Alonzo. She adored her grandchildren, Jeffrey Jr., Kayden, Landen, Janson, Jeffrie, Abbygail and Analeah.
She was the baby of her family and rebel of her siblings. She is survived by sisters, Corky, Tina, De-De and Eydie; brother, Chris; nieces, Richelle, Anna, Maleeta, Rachel, Cynthia, Elisha, Stephanie, Jenny, Crystal and Contance and Taylor; nephews, Ned, Travis, KeeRon, Bryant, Bobby and Blaze; her beloved best friend, Timothy Funches; son-in-law; Jeffery Van Vliete; and also Nancy and Norm Jr.; as well as numerous first, second and third cousins; and aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Edie R. Ebona-Butler; father, Clark L. Flygare; and grandparents, Martin and Annie Ebona.
The funeral service will be held on Sept. 9, 2017, at 12 p.m. at Legacy Funeral Home, 1707 South Bragaw Street in Anchorage, Alaska; it will be an open service so that all are welcome to come and pay their last respects to our Mom.
The Celebration of Life will be held on Sept. 16, 2017, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Anchorage City Church, 1303 West 100th Avenue in Anchorage.
Thank you for your generosity and compassion during this time for our family and loved ones.
