Anchorage resident Lavonna (Thorp) Vance, 42, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2013 in Anchorage.

Private family services were held. Lavonna's ashes will be scattered by her children in various parts of Alaska with those of her two German Shepherds, Sergeant and Angel.

Lavonna was born October 10, 1970 to Dennis Keith and Laveeta Mae (Anderson) Vance in LaJara, CO. She moved to Alaska in 1982 where she had been employed for several years through the U.S. Postal Service and most recently with GBR Equipment. When Lavonna wasn't at work she could usually be found at the baseball fields or hockey rinks cheering on her children. Lavonna enjoyed camping with her family, sewing and spending the nights indoors watching movies with her children. She was a very caring person who always brought laughter and fond memories to those around her.

Lavonna was preceded in death by her father, Dennis Vance who passed on May 24, 2013 in New Mexico.

She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Mae and Jim Pickering of Big Lake, AK; her three sons, Jeffrey Nelson, Christopher and Lucas Thorp all of Anchorage, AK; four brothers, Ron Vance and his wife, Kathi and Darry Vance and his wife Katy all of Albuquerque, NM, Stephen Vance and his wife Deirdre of Charlotte, NC and Charles Vance and his wife Jessi of Bothe, WA; several nieces and nephews; her best friend, April Jacobs of Anchorage, AK; also by her extended family, the Reynolds of GBR Equipment in Anchorage.
