Chugiak, Alaska, resident Lorraine "Lorrie" Jacquelyn Lang, 91, passed away at her home in Anchorage, Alaska, on July 22, 2017. Lorrie was born in Beloit, Wis., on March 22, 1926.
A funeral service will be held at Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E Street in Anchorage, on Thursday, July 27, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. She will be laid to rest at the Fort Richardson National Cemetery in Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, at 12 p.m.
Lorrie arrived in Anchorage in August 1953, after a long road trip up the Alcan Highway. She was employed almost immediately upon arriving, with the First National Bank of Anchorage. She stayed with the FNBA until December 1961, when she got a position with the Alaska Mutual Saving's Bank. She retired from the banking industry in November 1984. During her banking years, she progressed up the ladder becoming a Vice President of the Mortgage and Loan Department in 1974. She was the First Lady Vice President in the banking industry in Alaska. Other positions of note are: president of the Anchorage Chapter National Association Bank Women from 1975-1977; Group President of the National Bank Woman's Conference from 1983-1984, and President from 1984-1985; National Professional Mortgage Woman of the Year 1984; listed in the Who's Who in the West from 1985-1986 Edition. She was also a life member of the VFW and a longtime member of the American Legion. Lorrie loved to travel, crafts like sewing, fishing, singing and playing the organ.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, David and Marci Tuttle of Wasilla, Alaska; grandson, Logan (Sarah) Tuttle of Seward, Neb.; and husband, Osman Lang of Chugiak, Alaska.
Lorrie was a wonderful wife, companion, best friends, always had a beautiful smile and good word, and was ready to help anyone in need. In addition, Lorrie was a professional musician (organ player) and singer. She will be missed by all.
