Mother Lottie Grover, age 99, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016. Mother Grover was born on Nov. 28, 1916, in Shaw, Miss., to James and Mary Grover. Lottie was the fourteenth of fifteen children of this union. Lottie moved to Anchorage, Alaska, in August 1956 from East St. Louis, Ill. She worked at Fort Richardson as a civil employee until her retirement due to a medical disability.
She became a member of Greater Friendship Baptist Church in 1962, where she actively served until her death. Mother Grover loved her family and all whom she came in to contact with. Her favorite thing to do was to praise the Lord.
Mother Grover was preceded in death by her daughter, Sonja L. Coleman, in 1993. She leaves to mourn one sister, Ora Lee Coney of Anchorage; and three grandchildren, Stanley M. Clark Jr. of Memphis, Tenn., Charles W. Clark II of Anchorage and Tamara Y. Haynes of Spring, Texas. She also leaves to mourn five great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Greater Friendship Baptist Church on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016. Visitation starts at noon, funeral services at 1 p.m. and repast immediately following the service.
