Lucille Gunter joined her husband, Emery, in passing on Dec. 18, 2017. Lucille passed peacefully with family by her side. Lucille was born on July 19, 1923, in Whittier, N.C., where she also met the love of her life, Emery. Emery and Lucille were married in Clayton, Ga., on Aug. 6, 1944, and together they made their journey to Alaska in 1949. They purchased Kathy'O Estates in 1961. Emery and Lucille successfully ran Kathy'O for 45 years, until her retirement in 2006.
Lucille was very much the business woman and was always willing to help anyone in need. She loved running Kathy'O and greeted everyone that came into her office with her beautiful smile; she enjoyed talking with each one of them.
Lucille will be remembered by her family: daughter and son-in-law, Debby and Mike Seabol of Anchorage, Alaska; son, Jerry Gunter of Anchorage; granddaughter and husband, Sarah and Brian Haase of Colorado Springs, Colo.; granddaughter, Shannon Gunter of Anchorage; her three great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Taylor Gunter, Kinley Lucille Haase and Adeline Juliette Haase; her many nieces and nephews; and her much loved dog, Dixie. Lucille is preceded in death by her husband, Emery; her brothers, Hubert and Edward; and her sister, Ruby.
The family would like to thank Wendy, Bebe, Kate, Shirley, Lynne and Josie for their continued love and compassion during this time. We would also like to thank Providence Hospice for their support in the end.
There will be a celebration of life in the coming summer to be scheduled at a later date. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Anchorage ASPCA or Friends of Pets.
