The Life of Lydia Cazella Morgan
On Aug. 16, 2017, Lydia Cazella Morgan was called from this world to her Heavenly home.
Lydia Cazell Morgan was born on July 27, 1923, in Glimp, Tenn., to the late Albert Henry Lockard and Lucille C. Alston Lockard. She was one of six children born to this union.
She was married to Earnest Morgan on Dec. 12, 1942, in Marion, Ark. They were married 71 years, and added two sons, Earnest Morgan Jr. (deceased) and Harry T. Morgan of Blue Springs, Mo.
Lydia graduated from Le Moyne-Owen College in Memphis, Tenn., in 1946. She received a degree in chemistry and biology. Later she received a degree in elementary education and taught elementary students in Wahiawa, Hawaii. She changed her career to accounting before arriving in Anchorage, Alaska, with her husband, Earnest. After moving to Anchorage, she joined Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in 1967, where she was a member of the Women's Ministry, Adult Bible Study and Wednesday Senior Bible Study. She also was a member of Church Women United.
She was employed with FAA as an Accountant for over 25 years. When she retired from FAA, she went to work for Providence Hospital.
Lydia loved the "Land of the Midnight Sun." She also enjoyed traveling the world.
She was a charter member of North To The Future BPW and Women's Auxiliary VFW Post 9978.
Mrs. Morgan leaves to mourn her passing, a brother Albert Lockard; son, Harry T. (Janice) Morgan; and host of nieces and nephews, Laura and Lisa Lockard, Pam and Paula Lockard, Debra and Alberta Lockard, Kenneth, Emmet Jr., Luther and Albert III; friends; and her Shiloh family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Morgan; parents, Albert and Lucille Lockard; son, Earnest Morgan Jr.; and brothers, H. T. Lockard, Emmitt Lockard, Lorenza Lockard and Lemuel Lockard.
Funeral service will be on Sept. 7, 2017, at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 855 East 20th Avenue in Anchorage. A viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., and the service will start at 11 a.m.
Interment will be at the Fort Richardson Cemetery.
