Margot came to Fairbanks, Alaska, in 1942, with her mom, Edith Acres. Edith became a partner in the Fairbanks Hotel, which relatives already owned. Her aunt owned the Chena Hotel, which is now at Alaskaland. Edith and Margot later owned a chicken ranch on South Cushman, which sold fryers to the Fairbanks cafes. Later they owned other properties: the Manor House Apartments and in 1947, the Black Rapids Lodge.
She graduated from the University of Alaska Anchorage in 1975. Worked with the deaf and blind at the Sensory Impairment Center, helped her husband Pete in construction contracting for many years and retired as the Executive Secretary at the Anchorage Hilton Hotel. When she wasn't visiting family in Alaska, California, or Colorado, she lived for the past 17 years in Chandler, Ariz.
