Marvel was born on May 29th, 1957 in Anchorage. She has lived in Palmer, Wasilla, Trapper Creek and Fairbanks and graduated from Palmer High School. She was employed as a teller at First National Bank for 10+ years and her most recent job was dry cleaning at AK Cleaners in Anchorage.
Marvel loved spending time with her kids when she was able.
Her family writes: "Marvi had a beautiful smile, contagious laugh and ever loving heart. She was a wonderful and amazing mother, sister, cousin and friend. Also, she was a proud grandmother of a 6 year old granddaughter and 2 year old grandson. She enjoyed country music and white diamonds perfume was her signature scent. One of her favorite past times was watching old movies and kicking back with an ice cold coca cola after work. Anything the color purple made her smile and her other favorite past time was cooking homemade Italian dinners for friends and family. Usually, not a day went by without her wearing her blue Maybelline mascara. She will be forever missed and loved and memories of happy times cherished dearly."
She is survived by her sons, Joshua James Hooks of Wasilla and DJ McCullough of Anchorage; daughter, Alison Jewel Hooks of Wasilla; granddaughter, Ava Lloyd of Palmer; grandson, Dawson Hooks of Willow; sisters, Joni Miller of Fairbanks and Sharon Lucas of Palmer; brothers, Vic Hillstrom of Palmer, Gordy and Douglas Hillstrom of California and many cousins all over Alaska, Montana and California.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Jewel Hillstrom; father, Howard Hillstrom and sisters, Mary and Amber. She is also preceded in death by her very close friends Vicki Lemons and Randy.
Arrangements were made with Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel and Crematory.
