Matthew Clement Cassidy, 48, died at home in Wasilla, Alaska, on Feb. 28, 2015. He was born to Pat and Clem Cassidy in Red Wing, Minn., on Dec. 12, 1966. Matt was a 1985 graduate of Red Wing Central High School and a 1989 graduate of Carleton College. After college, Matt taught English in Korea and Guam, then made Alaska his home, where he worked as an electrician. He served as past President of the Board of Directors of The Children's Place. Matt was a beloved brother, son and friend who was passionate about books and music, loved to ski and follow baseball and told a good story with his Irish smile. To know Matt was to love Matt. His wit, generosity and kindness will be dearly missed by all. He is survived by his fiance, Lim Sooi Kim; brothers and sisters, Ed (Michele Cohn) of St. Paul, Minn., Jim (Annette) of Wasilla, Mary (Scott) Johnson of Fenton, Mich., Casey (Doreen) of Wasilla, Joe (Jen) of Wasilla and Katy of Hastings, Minn.; along with numerous nieces; nephews; great-niece; and great-nephews. Uncle Matt was awesome. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pat and Clem. A celebration of Matt's life will be held Sunday, March 8, 2015, from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. at Government Peak-Hatcher's Pass, Alaska. In addition, a celebration will take place in Red Wing, Minn., at the Indigo Room, 325 Main St. on Saturday, March 28, 2015, from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. Memorials preferred to The Children's Place, P.O.
