Michael Bolivar, age 56, passed away peacefully on Sept. 23, 2017, of natural causes. He was born on April 20, 1961, in Dudweiler, Germany, and grew up in Anchorage, Alaska, attending Dimond High School and graduated in 1979. He was a natural athlete, playing hockey, baseball, soccer and football.
Michael alongside his wife Rachel are the owners of Academy of Hair Design, where Michael made an enormous impact in the lives of his students. When he wasn't teaching he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, coaching his son's baseball team, fishing, music and 12-step recovery.
Michael was one in a million. His charisma would make everyone smile. He was a great friend and mentor to so many. He was loved, is deeply missed and will forever be cherished.
He is survived by his mother, Inge Bolivar (Oma); wife, Rachel Bolivar; sons, Skyler and Blake; daughter, Spencer; grandsons, Skyler Rain and Airik; uncle and aunt, Reynaldo and Jerry Bolivar; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Mano Bolivar (Opa).
Celebration of life for Michael will be held on Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, at 6:30 p.m., at the Bayshore Clubhouse, 3131 Amber Bay Loop in Anchorage.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Michael Bolivar can be made to The Salvation Army.
