Michael Dawson Victor, age 39, passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 22, 2016, at his home in Anchorage, Alaska. Michael was born in Fairbanks, Alaska, and grew up in Anchorage. From a very young age, hockey was Michael's passion. He started playing hockey at 4 years old, playing with the Alaska All Stars, Anchorage North Stars and West High School. During high school he went to play with the Little Caesars in Detroit, Mich., and graduated from Grosse Point North High School. He then went on to play with various semi-pro teams including the Omaha Lancers, Detroit Freeze, BC Iceman and Anchorage Aces, to name a few. Michael was an extraordinary hockey player. Michael was a kind and loving person with a great sense of humor. He lit up the room with his charismatic personality and smile. He loved helping people, telling stories, coaching hockey, rollerblading, fishing, camping and playing Frisbee golf, pool and especially poker. He went to several poker tournaments in Las Vegas, Nev., and played in the pool tournaments during Fur Rendezvous. Michael had a gleam in his eyes and a genuine heart of gold. He was the best son, brother, uncle, grandson, cousin, friend and teammate. He will be forever missed and kept in our hearts. Michael is survived by his parents, Martin D. (Denny) Victor III and Pat Victor; his brother, Martin D. Victor IV; his sister, September and her husband, Brandon Shedlock and his nephews, Holden and Parker Shedlock of Anchorage; his grandmother, Dorothy Alsbrook; his aunt, Janice Breeze; and uncle, James Lane; his cousins, Thomas Breeze, Lane Schwager and Damon Victor; and numerous friends and family in Alaska. He is preceded in death by grandparents, Martin and Frances Victor and Don Lane. The funeral service for Michael will be on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016, at 1 p.m at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 2222 East Tudor Road in Anchorage Michael will be laid to rest at Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetery, 535 East 9th Avenue in Anchorage at 2:30 p.m. A reception will follow after the burial at St. Mary's Episcopal Church. The pallbearers will be: Tom Kowal, Dan Kowal, Zach Ham, Brandon Shedlock, Brock Lindow and Monte Hernandez. The family welcomes all who knew Michael to come say their final farewells.
